Just throw everything you know about jazz fusion out the window and try not to add so much of a 70's crime film aesthetic in your mind haha! (though, I must say that's very apt!) It's specifically arranged to be hard to categorized, so schizo might be a good way to describe it, but I wouldn't necessarily call it that derisively. Still, you either love it or hate it. Critics and fans are STILL polarized about it even today, so try to listen to it and define it on your own terms in relation to yourself. Enjoy!
